Our Story
Montgomery Inn at Ingleside is proudly owned by Dennis and Lauralee Harding, entrepreneurs from Fredericksburg, Virginia, with a passion for craftsmanship and hospitality. Together, they have built successful businesses in real estate investing, home building, HVAC contracting, and short-term vacation rentals.
Dennis serves as the Assistant Chief of the Patawomeck Indians of Virginia and is dedicated to preserving the history and traditions of his tribe. Lauralee shares his love of history, preserving the past at their local tribal center with all four of their children. Her love of historical interpreting also led her to join the Rappahannock Colonial Heritage Society where she enjoys sewing period clothing and bringing the 18th century to life for the educational enrichment of the community.
Homeschooling their four children allows the Hardings to not only immerse themselves in living history but also to travel often and enjoy an adventurous, outdoor lifestyle as a family. Their travels have regularly taken them across the United States as well as Canada. They are very proud of upholding the traditions of the past and protecting their heritage while staying firmly rooted in their local community for many generations.
Why They Chose This Property
A lifelong admirer of Anne of Green Gables and its author L. M. Montgomery, Lauralee has always dreamed of owning a home on Prince Edward Island. After a long-planned mother-daughter trip to PEI in 2024, Lauralee began pursuing the possibility of finding her dream home on the island. When the opportunity arose to purchase this historic Montgomery home, Dennis and Lauralee combined their years of hospitality experience with Lauralee’s lifelong passion.
Owning Montgomery Inn at Ingleside is the realization of a dream and many, many prayers. It is a testament of God's goodness in their lives and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to share the charm, history, and beauty of PEI with guests from around the world.
